AMC Softball Tournament Day Two Recap

Columbia, Mo. - (Tournament Page) Day two of the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Softball Tournament is completed and four teams still remain.

Game 7: Cottey def. Missouri Baptist, 3-0
  • Cottey's Elizabeth Thomas started the scoring with a homerun in the bottom of the second.
  • Amelia Gassman for the Comets went one for three and had an RBI.
  • Brooke Vicory threw a complete game while only giving up two hits.
  • Jenna Achs and Natalie Archer for Missouri Baptist each had one hit.

Game 8: Central Baptist def. William Woods, 1-0
  • This matchup showcased great pitching and defense from both teams.
  • Central Baptist's Hannah Work threw a complete game and only let up six hits while giving up no earned runs.
  • Abi West ended the game by a solo shot to right field in the bottom of the seventh.
  • Sarah Randermann tossed 6.2 innings for the Owls, allowing one walk, and striking out six.
  • Jessica Keilholz led William Woods in the box, finishing the game with two hits.

Game 9: William Woods def. Columbia, 1-0
  • In an elimination game, William Woods Rylee Hagens reached on a fielder's choice and broke the 0-0 tie in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead.
  • Micaiah Cordell earned the win for the Owls, throwing a complete game and striking out four.
  • Four players for the Cougars ended the game with a hit, (King, Angel, Bruno, and Polly).
  • Columbia's Ella Schouten threw six innings. She had ten strikeouts and let up four hits.

Game 10: Williams Baptist def. Missouri Baptist, 3-1
  • In the second elimination game of the day, three-seeded Williams Baptist scored two runs in the bottom of the third to get ahead.
  • Natalia Watkins and Madyson Shoebottom both went three for three for the Eagles.
  • Williams Baptist's Madison Knight had both Eagles RBIs, (single and sacrifice fly).
  • Emberlin Caldwell threw a complete game and only allowed five hits.
  • Five separate batters for the Spartans had one hit each.

Day Three Schedule - May 4
  • Game 11: Cottey* vs. Central Baptist - 10:00 AM
  • Game 12: William Woods vs. Williams Baptist* - 12:00 PM
  • Game 13: Winner Game 12 vs. Loser Game 11 - 2:00 PM
