AMC Softball All-Tournament Team
St. Louis, Mo.- The American Midwest Conference (AMC) announced the 2024 Softball All-Tournament Team. The 15-player team is led by Tournament Most Valuable Player Alyssa Montoya, a pitcher/designated player from Cottey College.
The All-Tournament Team was selected by the eight tournament-qualifying coaches. The MVP is voted on by a selection committee made up of the AMC staff and two coaches.
Montoya led the Comets to their first AMC Tournament title in program history, leading them in the circle and at the plate. She started three of Cottey's four Tournament games and ended with a 1.94 ERA in eighteen innings pitched. She had victories over Columbia and Williams Baptist. Offensively, Montoya went 3-for-6 with a walk, run scored and stolen base.
Montoya pitched a complete game shutout in Cottey's Tournament-opener win over Columbia, striking out two. She went 1-for-2 at the plate in the Comets 1-0 victory. In a 5-4 victory over Central Baptist she threw four innings and struck out two batters, contributing at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance. Montoya pitched a complete game in the championship game against Williams Baptist, striking out three batters and giving up six hits.
