AMC Softball Tournament Day One Recap

CONWAY, Ark. - Opening day of the 2025 AMC Softball Tournament delivered plenty of excitement, with home runs in five of the six games, one matchup stretching into eight innings, another ending early after just six, an upset, and a team making its championship debut stunning the reigning champions.
Missouri Baptist, William Woods, Columbia, Williams Baptist, Central Baptist and Crowley's Ridge advance to day two.

Game 1: #1-Missouri Baptist def. #8-Stephens, 9-1
- Three players had two hits for the Spartans - Jacie Dees, Makayla Johnson and Natalie Archer
- Dees drove in three runs, while Johnson drove in two
- Dees and and Allison Leigraf scored two runs for Missouri Baptist, while Jenna Achs, Brooklynn Fischer, Alexi Sanchez, Kendall Zimmer and Grace McGinnis each scored one
- Dees and Leigraf each hit one homer
- Taylor Whitehead picked up her 17th win of the season after going six innings in the circle allowing four hits, one run and striking out four
Game 2: #2-William Woods def. #7-Crowley's Ridge, 4-0
- Rylee Hagens led the Owls with two hits
- Jessica Keilholz and Sammy Lohnes each drove in two runs
- Lexi Lewis, Brooklynn Spillman, Lohnes and Kaitlyn Plassmeyer each scored one run for William Woods
- Lohnes hit a home run
- Sarah Randermann picked up her 13th win of the season in the circle. She struck out 14 and allowed only one hit
Game 3: #5-Central Baptist def. #4-Williams Baptist, 3-1
- Abi West went 2-for-3, with two RBI and two runs for the Mustangs including a home run
- Baylie Ainsworth added one RBI
- Elizabeth Stoufer recorded two hits and one run
- Alex Jeter earned win 14th of the season. In 5.0 innings pitched, she allowed eight hits and one run
- Isabella Sawyers had the save. In 2.0 innings pitched, she allowed one hit
Game 4: #3-Columbia def. #6-Cottey, 4-1
- Six Cougars recorded at least one hit for the Cougars - Abigail Zismer, Ellie Kliethermes, Cassidy Avery, Madyson Wear, Kennedy Schanuth and Rosalie Schneider
- Zismer, Avery, Schanuth and Wendy van Wijk each drove in one run
- Zismer scored two runs while Kliethermes and Sophia Angel each scored one run
- Amelia Gassman of Cottey hit a home run
- Megan Graver took the win no. 14 in the circle. In 7.0 innings pitched, she struck out eight, allowing two hits and one run
Game 5: Williams Baptist def. Stephens, 2-1
- Madyson Busselle, Brooke Scott and Kaelyn Gooch had one hit for the Eagles
- Gooch drove in two runs
- Rylee Boshell and Scott scored one run each
- Morgan Garner grabbed her 15th win in the circle on the season. She struck out four while allowing five hits and one run in seven innings pitched
Game 6: Crowley's Ridge def. Cottey, 8-2 (8 inn.)
- The Pioneers scored six runs in the eighth to earn a win in come-from-behind fashion over Cottey
- Bailey Cupples, Halea Wells, Aubrey White, Jocelyn Villarreal, Kourtni Jagneaux and Kylie Cox each scored one run in the eighth
- Wessel, Villarreal and Jordan Janak each drove in two runs
- Lilly Wessel hit a home run
- Ava Jessup was credited with the win in the circle. In 8.0 innings pitched, she struck out five while allowing seven hits and two runs
