St. Louis, Mo. – Kennedy Jensen of Columbia and Amelia Gassman of Cottey were named this week's American Midwest Conference (AMC) Softball Players of the Week presented by AMCOnTheGo, announced the conference office this afternoon. 

AMC Softball Hitter of the Week

Amelia Gassman, Cottey

Sr. | P/IF | Sherwood, Ark.

  • Led the Comets to a sweep over Harris-Stowe and Health Sciences & Pharmacy.
  • Hit .615 (8-for-6) with a 1.462 slugging percentage and .643 on-base percentage.
  • Hit two doubles, three homers, drove in six runs and scored six runs.

Other Notable Performance:

Taryn Hargadt, Columbia: led the Cougars to a split with CMU and UHSP and a sweep over HSSU. Averaged .579 with a .579 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base-percentage. Added 11 hits, two RBI and two runs. Stole four bases.

  • Earned two wins in the circle this week, including a 3-2 win over #17 Central Methodist and a 5-1 victory over UHSP.
  • In 11.2 innings pitched, she struck out one while allowing 12 hits and two runs.
  • Recorded an ERA of 1.20.
  • Second AMC Player of the Week award of the season

Other Notable Performance:

Trysten Murphy, UHSP: led the Eutectics to their second-ever win over Columbia. Tossed a complete-game and struck out one, while allowing six hits and one run.
