William Woods Earns Automatic Berth to NAIA Women's Golf National Championships
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released the field of qualifiers for the 25th Annual Women's Golf National Championships. The 2019 event is being held at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City, Okla. from May 14-17.
William Woods (Mo.) received an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships after winning its 16th-straight American Midwest Conference (AMC) Championship on April 29-30. The Owls shot 41-over-par as team (312-305—617) for the tournament and won by seven-strokes.
The Owls will be appearing in their 16th-consecutive NAIA Women's Golf National Championships, finishing as the national runners-up in 2018.
William Woods will tee off at 1:14 p.m. from hole No. 10 for the first round. In round two the Owls will tee off from hole No. 1 at 8:10 a.m. The Owls will be paired with Cumberland (Tenn.) and Vanguard (Calif.).
The 2019 field includes 156-players that are from 19 automatic qualifying teams that won their respective conference, independent or unaffiliated grouping, 11 at-large berths and six individual qualifiers.
In order to receive an individual automatic berth, a player must win her respective conference tournament or be an All-Tournament team honoree from the previous year's national championships that did not qualify otherwise. To earn an at-large berth, the selection is determined by the NAIA Women's Golf Championship Committee.
Each day of the national championship will be captured in a daily video recap, available for free on the NAIA Facebook page. Highlights, interviews and more can be seen by 8 p.m. CDT after each round.
