William Woods Wins 2023 Women's Outdoor T&F Title

St. Louis, Mo. - (Championship Page) The William Woods Owls have won the 2023 American Midwest Conference (AMC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship. This is the second team title in three years for the Owls.
The Owls scored 215.5 points, beating out second-place Columbia (132.5) by 83 points. Williams Baptist finished third (120.5), while Missouri Baptist (108) and Hannibal-LaGrange (66) placed in the top-five.
Mya Green (Williams Baptist) won Newcomer of the Year honors after winning the 100-meter dash (12.96) and 200-meter dash (26.40) and third in the 4X100-meter relay (51.13).
Madalenn Fee of Cottey took home Freshman of the Year honors after winning the 800-meter run (2:22.05) and 4X400-meter relay (4:09.57), second in the 3000-meter steeplechase (11:28.00) and third in the 4X800-meter relay (10:05.64) and long jump (5.17-meters)
Outstanding Track Athlete went to Mia Reed of Missouri Baptist as she won three events - 400-meter hurdles (1:07.81), 3000-meter steeplechase (11:21.67) and 4X800-meter relay (9:24.80) and finished second on the 4X400-meter relay (4:10.77).
Katie French won three events en route to Outstanding Field Athlete. She won the shot put (13.68-meters), discus (43.02-meters) and hammer (47.86-meters).
Lily Ashrafzadeh (Columbia) earned Athlete of the Meet as she won the 4X100-meter relay (49.93) and long jump (5.36-meters), placing third in the 100-meter (13.16), fourth in the 200-meter (27.40) and 400-meter (1:02.60) and fifth in the triple jump (10.52).
Mia Reed of Missouri Baptist and Fee hit the NAIA "B" standard in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Reed ran an 11:21.67, while fee finished just behind at 11:28.00. Reed had qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Championships in the event earlier in the season, but this was the first time for Fee.
The Missouri Baptist relay team of Isabel Rinkenberger, Adrienne Rockette, Mattie Noyes and Mia Reed qualified for nationals in the 4X800-meter relay with a time 9:24.80.
French and Kaylyn Powers (Hannibal-LaGrange) hit NAIA standards in the shot put, as French hit the "A" standard (13.68) and Powers hit the "B" standard (13.07)
French added an NAIA "B" standard performance in the discus with a toss of 43.02-meters.
The javelin saw three athletes hit standards, as William Woods teammates Natalie Thomas and Ellie Emerson hit the "A" standard with tosses of 42.27-meters and 41.40-meters respectively. Columbia's Madeline Burton hit the "B" standard with a distance of 39.99-meters.
