AMC Volleyball Players of the Week - No. 3 (Sept. 2)

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Mariana de Carvalho of Columbia, Jenna Brinson of UHSP, and Clara Gower of Columbia have been named American Midwest Conference (AMC) Women's Volleyball Players of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

All three players are now eligible for the NAIA Women's Volleyball Players of the Week which is announced on Tuesday.

AMC Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Mariana de Carvalho, Columbia
Jr. | OH | Recife, PE, Brazil
  • Had four double-double on the week for the Cougars, averaging 3.22 kills per set and 2.72 digs per set.
  • In 18 sets played, she totaled 58 kills and 64 points.
  • Helped the Cougars go 2-2 on the week with wins over Xavier and Loyola.
Other Notable Performance:
  • Tera Schumacher, UHSP: Helped the Eutectics earn two wins on the week over Wilberforce and Brescia. She totaled 44 kills with an average of 3.14 kills per set.

AMC Volleyball Setter of the Week

  • Averaged 7.21 assists per set with a total of 101 helping the Eutectics to two wins on the week.
  • Played 14 sets, recorded 51 digs, six total blocks, and five block assists.
Other Notable Performance:
  • Giovanna Bicalho, Columbia: Had over 20 assists in all four games this week for Columbia, adding double digit digs in two games.

  • Averaged. 4.56 digs per set for the Cougars.
  • In 18 sets played, she totaled 82 digs.
  • Added 14 assists and three service aces.
Other Notable Performance:
  • Jatnna Pena-Perez, Stephens: Recorded 72 digs over the weekend. She averaged eight digs per set and contributed 1.88 set assists per set.
