AMC Volleyball Quarterfinals Recap

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The top four seeds advanced to the Semifinals of the 2024 American Midwest Conference Volleyball Tournament with wins on Tuesday.

Match #1 - (1) Missouri Baptist def. (8) Central Baptist, 3-0 (Box Score)

The set scores were: 25-12, 25-13, and 25-10

Gabi Jakubowska, dominated with 18 kills, and Kassie Lee, who contributed significantly with 10 kills. Their attacks consistently earned the team points, capitalizing on the opposing team's attack and service errors. Julia Pereira led the Spartans defense with 14 digs.

Match 2: (4) William Woods def. (5) Mission, 3-1 (Box Score)

The set scores were: 22-25, 25-20, 25-15, and 25-12.

On the offensive front, Luciana Paiva Pereira's impressive 19 kills and .500 hitting percentage, contributed significantly to the team's total of 19.0 points. Defensively, William Woods's Vitoria Campos Mello and Pamela Durazo each added 6 blocks, playing key roles in the team's defensive strategy. Campos Mello also recorded a team-high 15 digs.

Match 3: (3) Stephens def. (6) Williams Baptist, 3-0 (Box Score)

The set scores were: 25-16, 25-11, and 26-24.

Key players like Emma Whitson were instrumental in the victory; Whitson contributed an impressive 36 assists and a kill. Their offense was led by Izzy Benson and Amari Branch-Autman, who landed 11 and 9 kills respectively, ensuring strong offensive plays for Stephens. On the defensive end, Rylee Collins showcased a spectacular effort with 54 digs, anchoring the team's defense and proving essential to their success.

Match 4: (2) Columbia def. (7) Crowley's Ridge, 3-0 (Box Score)

The set scores were: 25-22, 26-24, and 25-13.

The Cougars had great performances by Allana Capella (10 kills) and Alayna Rooks (11 kills) who executed attacks during important points. In addition, and Taylor Johnson delivered some key service aces. Hannah Vogt recorded a double-double with 21 assists and 15 digs.
