Bayer, Reed Finish in Top Half of National Championship Field

VANCOUVER, Wash. - The Missouri Baptist University women's cross country program wrapped up one of its most successful seasons in recent memory at the 2021 NAIA Cross Country National Championships as Emily Bayer, Mia Reed, Isabel Rinkenberger and Alyssa Jakcsy took to the Fort Vancouver National Historic Championship Course on Friday.
Missouri Baptist was able to send four runners as individuals to Washington thanks to conference foe (RV) William Woods earning one of 15 at-large berths in addition to Columbia's automatic bid as conference champions.
A veteran at the NAIA Cross Country Championships, senior Emily Bayer was once again on the fringe of a Top 100 finish. In her fourth consecutive Nationals appearance, the Imperial, Mo. native finished 111th with the same time (19:42.80) as AMC competitor Harley Nale of William Woods.
Freshman Mia Reed made the most of her debut finishing in the top half of the field (338 runners) and less than 10 seconds behind Bayer. Reed placed 137th with a time of 19:52.50.
MBU's Isbael Rinkenberger and Alyssa Jakcsy crossed the finish line in 20:30.00 and 20:44.10 for 210th and 237th, respectively.
